The Grumman F9F Panther is a straight-winged single-engine fighter-bomber aircraft manufactured by Grumman Aircraft Corporation. The F9F Panther was used by the U.S Navy and United Marine Corps as their primary jet fighter and ground attack aircraft in the Korean War and said to be one of the United States Navy’s first successful carrier-based jet fighters.The maiden flight of the F9F Panther, piloted by test pilot Captain Corky Meyer took place on the 24th of November 1947. Primary users were the United States Navy, United States Marine Corps and Argentine Navy. There were 1,382 F9F Panther produced. The F9F Panther retired from service from U.S. Navy in 1958 and from the Argentine Navy in 1969.
