The Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor designed to replace the F-15 is an American single-seat, twin engine, stealth all weather tactical fighter aircraft, manufactured by Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, Boeing Defense Space and Security. It is the first operational aircraft to combine super cruise, super maneuverability, stealth, and sensor fusion in a single weapons platform capable of ground attack, electronic warfare, and signals intelligence roles. The maiden flight of the F-22 Raptor took place on the 7th of September 1997, and went into service on the 15th of December 2005. There were 187 operational and 8 test F-22 produced between 1996 and 2011. Primary user is the United States Air Force. The F-22 Raptor is still in active services. Cost per unit is approx. 150 million USD.
